Educational Standards for Onboarding Creators

E-learning platforms often implement educational standards and guidelines to ensure the quality and consistency of courses offered by new creators and teachers. These standards help maintain a high level of educational integrity and provide a seamless learning experience for users.

How Skolarships Manages Educational Standards

Key Standards & Practices

SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model)

  • Purpose

Ensures eLearning content is compatible with different Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Implementation

Course creators must structure their content according to SCORM standards, which specify how the content should communicate with the LMS.

Tin Can API (xAPI)

  • Purpose

Allows for advanced tracking and reporting of learner activities beyond traditional LMS environments.

  • Implementation

Creators can follow the xAPI format to capture a wide range of learning experiences, such as simulations, games, and social learning activities, providing detailed insights into learner progress.

Common Cartridge

  • Purpose

Specifies how eLearning content can be packaged and shared across different LMS platforms.

  • Implementation

Enables creators to package their courses for compatibility with multiple LMSs, ensuring broader reach and usability.

Onboarding Process for New Creators

Verification and Qualification

  • Credentials Verification (CERTIFIED)

Skolarships will not require creators to be affiliated with partner institutions or have verified credentials to ensure they are qualified to teach the course material.

To become a certified Skolar, creators will have to undergo an extensive verification process, separating their communities from the rest with a Gold Star on their community on the platform.

  • Content Review

Before a course goes live Skolarships may review the course content for quality, relevance, and adherence to platform guidelines.

  • Onboarding

Skolarships can work directly with verified creators to craft courses in person at their in-house content studio.

Training and Support

  • Instructional Design Training

Skolarships provides training resources and workshops to help new instructors design effective courses and communities. Inside the Skolar Community, creators will be given guidance on creating engaging content, using platform tools, and understanding eLearning standards, in the course format offered to creators!

  • Technical Support

Benefits of Implementing Education Standards

Benefits of Implementing Education Standards

Maintains a high standard of education by ensuring courses meet predefined quality benchmarks.

  • Enhanced Learning Experience

Provides learners with a reliable and engaging educational experience, which can improve retention and outcomes.

  • Scalability

Allows for easy scaling of content to accommodate different audience sizes and learning environments

  • Coursera

Requires instructors to be affiliated with partner institutions and follows a rigorous content review and approval process to ensure high educational standards.

Customization

There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to education.

Courses on Skolarships can be customized to the creators preference.

Everyone has their own style of teaching. Giving customization options makes the teaching and learning experience more fun. Think about the classes you took in school with a fun teacher vs a boring teacher. Who's information did you retain the most?

Course Creation & Management
  • Integrated Community & Learning Management

Skolarships combines community engagement with course management. Creators can design courses that are embedded directly within the community, fostering interaction and discussion around the course content.

  • Content Delivery

Courses are structured into modules and lessons, which can include video lectures, reading materials, quizzes, and assignments.

  • Gamification & Engagement

Skolarships incorporates gamification elements like points, badges, and leaderboards to enhance user engagement and motivation.

  • Analytics

Detailed analytics allow creators to track learner progress, course completion rates, and engagement metrics, providing insights to improve course content and delivery.

Course Overview

This is the introduction to the course. Typically, a video from the creator introducing themselves, verifying their credentials about the subject, and an introduction of the course with a visual overview of expectations when moving forward.

Progression Locks

Some modules can be locked on a milestone-basis. Should a creator wish to incentivize progress to move forward and engage with the learning materials, they can add a lock to courses that require completion, payment, or time in the community to advance.

Modules

Modules can be customized with additional content in a drop-down menu. Creators can build an unlimited number of modules with an unlimited number of lessons attached. The module is intended to give the students an overview of what lessons they can find inside. Lessons inside each module can contain text, video, or both. Entirely up to the creator.

Customizable formatting options are available inside of the course creation page. Creators typically opt-in to creating high-quality video lessons to visually engage learners.

On the community front, members can open up discussions to ask questions on certain topics and even schedule their own independent learning session & workshops to help others navigate the same potential knowledge gaps.

Community members will also be incentivized on a status-basis with the implementation of leaderboards. Creators can encourage friendly competition and engagement through showcasing progress made within the course structure.

Creators can provide monetary incentives as part of their campaigns to acquire and retain users amongst the platform, encouraging engagement and progress climbing the leaderboard for both digital and physical rewards (creator-specific).

Events

Schedule live webinars, AMAs, community collaborations, and more.

Skolarships allows creators to post to public and private calendars when hosting events for the masses or exclusive events for select community members.

Events are hosted on the platform rather than using 3rd party software like Zoom or Google.

Admissions

To avoid the class clowns and bad students.

Skolarship's admission model allows creators to have control over who joins their communities. This selective process ensures that the community maintains a high level of engagement and that members align with the community’s goals and values.

How It Works

Application Process
  • Custom Forms

Creators can design custom application forms that prospective members must fill out. These forms can include questions about the applicant's background, interests, goals, and reasons for wanting to join the community.

  • Screening

The information collected through the application form helps creators screen applicants based on predefined criteria.

Manual or Automated Approvals
  • Review Process

Creators or their community managers can manually review each application. This allows for a thorough evaluation of whether the applicant is a good fit for the community. If the goal is for automation and user growth, members can join communities immediately without undergoing a screening process.

  • Communication

With the email provided in the submission, creators can communicate with applicants during the review process to gather more information if needed.

Admission Control
  • Selective Admission

Only those applicants who meet the criteria and are deemed a good fit are granted access to the community. Exclusivity can often create the sense of fomo and ensure quality.

Automated Workflows
  • Integration with Tools

Skolarships allows integration with tools like Zapier to automate parts of the admission process, such as sending follow-up DMs or onboarding new members that fit the criteria of the community's guidelines.

The admissions process is crucial for maintaining the quality and integrity of a community, ensuring that members align with the community’s goals and values, which fosters a high level of engagement and satisfaction.

It also allows community managers to curate a cohesive and supportive environment, enhancing overall member experience and retention. Implementing a selective admissions process helps in building a committed and active community that contributes positively to the platform’s growth and success.

Skolarships community managers are vetted professionals with over 5+ years of experience (independently, not combined) with a passion to ensure the communities they are apart of are thriving to their potential.
